Clinics & Services
Antenatal clinics are offered at the surgery by the community midwifery team and Dr Wallbank. All doctors can see pregnant ladies for their routine GP checks at 16 and 32 weeks. Any additional follow up that is required outside clinic times is arranged by the community midwives.
Tuesday afternoons (with Dr Wallbank) and Wednesday and Thursday mornings (with the midwife).
All doctors are happy to review asthma during routine appointments but more time is available for explanation and teaching in the dedicated Asthma Clinic. More complex asthma patients are reviewed by our Specialist Respiratory Nurse, Cathy O'Brien, on Thursday afternoons.
Unfortunately there is currently no funding available for the provision of blood tests in our practice. However, the Practice offers a limited number of appointments with a phlebotomist on Tuesdays and Thursdays for those patients who are unable to attend clinics at the local hospitals.
The Health Visiting Team will arrange routine screening by appointment. Where medical checks are required these will be done by your GP. Dr Wallbank runs a Post-Natal Clinic on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings and initial 8 week baby checks are offered at the same time so that your baby can be given their first childhood immunisations at that point by the Practice Nurse.
It is important that we have up-to-date information on your child's immunisation history. Please discuss any concerns around immunisation with a doctor or nurse. Our practice nurses run dedicated clinics for childhood immunisations on Monday mornings (from 10:00) and Friday afternoons (from 14:00).
This service is not provided by the NHS.
Jean Peters provides a clinic at the practice every Friday morning. She offers a full chiropody service, including laser treatments and a toe nail cutting service. Appointments can be made for the Friday clinic by calling the surgery on 01753 541268. For appointments outside this time or home visits please call Jean on 01753 861508. Fees are currently £30 for patients of The Datchet Health Centre and £35 for non-patients.
All diabetic patients are offered an annual review appointment at the diabetes clinics run by the Practice. An interim check 6 months later is also offered by the patient's usual GP. Our diabetes clinics are run by Dr Helen Beardsell, together with practice nurses Jeanette Saunders and Danielle Young. Insulin dependent diabetic patients will also have check-ups at the hospital. Eye screening for diabetic retinopathy is offered on an annual basis - the location of this service varies.
Family Planning Clinic
Family planning can be discussed with your usual GP and follow up appointments can then be made with one of our family planning trained nurses. Jeanette and Kathy are all trained to offer family planning advice to patients. Additionally, Dr Wallbank is trained to fit the contraceptive coil and implants.
The practice nurses, Jeanette Saunders and Dani Young, run INR clinics - the days of these are flexible. Appointments can be booked through reception (by telephone or in person).
Some minor surgery procedures (incisions, excisions and joint injections) can be carried out at the practice. Dr Watts, Dr Bijjala and Dr Ferguson offer this service. Please make an initial consultation appointment with your usual doctor to ascertain whether or not the procedure can be carried out at the surgery and how long an appointment time will be required.
The Practice hosts an NHS physiotherapy service on Mondays and Thursdays. Appointments are by referral only.
This clinic is run every Thursday afternoon by Cathy O'Brien, our Specialist Respiratory Nurse. It is for patients with COPD, bronchitis, emphysema and problematic asthma.
Smoking Cessation is now only available for Pregnant Mothers or patients who are received treatment for mental health.
Well Person Clinic
Simple checks of height, weight, blood pressure and urine testing can be arranged with our nurses for patients aged 15 and over. This routine health check is also available to new patients registering with the practice. More detailed check-ups and examinations can be carried out by the doctors as necessary.
Well Woman & Menopause Clinic
Your usual GP can give detailed advice and discuss treatment options, if appropriate. A specialist Well Woman Clinic is also offered every Wednesday by Sister Kathy Young.
